Book of the Prophet Isaiah

A reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah (25:6a, 7-9)

On this mountain the LORD of hosts

will provide for all peoples.

On this mountain he will destroy

the veil that veils all peoples,

The web that is woven over all nations;

he will destroy death forever.

The Lord GOD will wipe away

the tears from all faces;

The reproach of his people he will remove

from the whole earth; for the LORD has spoken.

On that day it will be said:

“Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us!

This is the LORD for whom we looked;

let us rejoice and be glad that he has saved us!”

The word of the Lord.

A Reading From the Book of the Prophet Isaiah  (41:10-13)

Do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be alarmed,

for I am your God. I give you strength,

truly I help you, truly I hold you firm

with my saving right hand.

Look, all those who rage against you

will be put to shame and humiliated;

those who picked quarrels with you will be

reduced to nothing and will perish.

You will look for them but will not find them,

those who used to fight you;

they will be destroyed and brought to nothing,

those who made war on you.

 For I, Yahweh, your God,

I grasp you by your right hand;

I tell you,

‘Do not be afraid,

I shall help you.’

The Word of the Lord
